Lindsay & John’s MilkBoy Bar and Rittenhouse Engagement

Philly never fails to reward any curious photographer exploring new places to shoot. Our city is rich with history and character, and within every building is an interesting array of texture, color, and possibility. Lindsay and John arrived to their MilkBoy bar and Rittenhouse engagement shoot with JPG engagement photographers full of energy and enthusiasm, ready to scratch that surface and find dynamic images in bars, alleys, and iconic locales alike.

What I really love about this shoot is how it blends concepts that we already know and love with new tweaks and personality that only Lindsay and John could deliver. Instead of dipping in front of City Hall, they lit up cigars. Kissey shots? Sure, but in the devilish red light of a covert bathroom. Our first location was the upstairs music venue of MilkBoy in Center City. As if the stage and bar weren’t cool enough settings, we also found a perfect stairwell of brick and chipping paint, as well as that sexy bathroom.

On our way to our final location in Rittenhouse Square, we stumbled upon an alley and got some fun captures of the couple on a stoop. When choosing a photographer, it’s important to have trust in his or her choices and ability to find the photographic potential in all locations. This particular alley gave us the urban textures and colors we love, and our couple rocked it. Variety goes a long way in an engagement session, and this one combines backdrops of some of Philly’s most famous spots with nooks that could easily be overlooked.

Thank you to Lindsay and John for bringing so much energy to your session. Your personalities light up the photos, and we love it.  Can’t wait to see you at your wedding this weekend! The count down is almost over!

Best, Joe
