Yesterday, May 20th, 2014, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania took one giant step closer to fully realizing the Founders ideals of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and made law in the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution: “No state shall…deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” This is the legendary Equal Protection Clause and yesterday its right and just application made this a better state to call home.
As PA State Rep Brian Sims said, “Today a federal court in Pennsylvania has affirmed what a majority of Pennsylvanians already support: the fundamental right to marry the person they love.”It has been a long journey with hard work from groups like the Human Rights Campaign to bring about equality for the LGBTQ community. JPG Photography was fortunate enough to be apart of HRC’s non-profit gala and is thrilled to see their hard work pay off.
We agree with Judge John E. Jones when he writes that just as it happened to the label of separate but equal, “separate has thankfully faded into history, and only “equal” remains. Similarly, in future generations the label same-sex marriage will be abandoned, to be replaced simply by marriage.” As the fight towards equal and the diminishing of separate continues, JPG is proud to support this cause and the truth that love wins for all citizens, regardless of their sexual orientation.
As a result of this wonderful news, JPG is happy to offer TWO discounts! The first is 20% off for LGBTQ couples for weddings, portraits, families, and fun! The second is 30% off for all LGBTQ couples who already married in another state who decide to get married again in PA!
JPG is committed to non-profit work as well as supporting everyone’s relationships regardless of their sexual orientation and would love to be kept in mind for your future LGBTQ event, engagement, or now-legal wedding!
On this wonderful occasion, JPG Photography joins with all of our friends, but especially those in the LGBT community, to celebrate this new day of inclusion, freedom, equality and, most of all, love.
