This past March, we were honored to help raise $1,500 for charity by bringing the Fearless Photographers of the Philadelphia region together with a big Italian dinner. Fearless Photographers is an international community of wedding photographers who strive to push visual boundaries. Not only does the Fearless organization provide a great directory of edgy wedding photographers, Fearless recognizes its members with seasonal awards, while raising thousands of dollars every year for multiple charities.
The JPG crew loves being a part of the Fearless family and the idea for this event began by just wanting to meet more of its Philadelphia members. We’re an extraordinary group of artists and the kind of people I wanted to recognize and celebrate. Unfortunately, since we’re all busy business owners, we don’t get a lot of opportunities to network and talk face to face. From the start, Fearless founder and photojournalist Huy Nguyen was extremely supportive of this get-together. With his help, JPG organized a fundraiser for Fearless’s Charitable arm aiming to donate $100,000 this year.
Even in the early planning, I wanted this event to happen over a big Italian meal. After all, good food and good drink always leads to a good evening! When everything finally came together, we hosted 30 local Fearless photographers including Huy Nguyen, Tony Hoffer of Hoffer Photography and Mike Allebach of Allebach Photography at one of my favorite local spots, Maggiano’s in Center City, Philadelphia. It was such a fun night of unwinding and finally getting to meet one another in one location, rather than on the job. We had a great time connecting with our colleagues and even captured them on the other side of the lens for a change! Through tickets, raffles and donations throughout the night, we raised money for Doctors Without Borders, helping Fearless get closer to its annual goal!
Thank you to everyone who helped to plan and/or attended. We couldn’t have been more happy or honored to host such an amazing group of people. Preliminary plans are already in the works for another event this fall! Email me for more info!
