MLB UMPS Care Charity and Non-Profit Photography
You might have guessed from previous posts, that I’m a huge Phillies and baseball (MLB) fan. Naturally, when we received a phone call from a former client asking if we would photograph the non-profit photography for the UMPS Care charity at CHOP, I eagerly agreed! The shoot was to document an event at the hospital where professional umpires from the MLB delivered smiles and Build-A-Bears to children who are hospitalized for serious medical illnesses. It was an absolute joy to photograph so many smiling children and youth.
UMPS Care offers financial and emotional support, not only to the children at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, but also to families who are faithfully standing by their children across the country. The Major League Baseball umpires visiting last week were the same crew working the Phillies home game that evening — adding some extra excitement to the day. The Build-A-Bears were a huge hit, because stuffed animals are often a source of comfort for a child throughout the whole course of an illness. These toys helped the kids forget about the monitors, chords and medical equipment. And of course, the Phillie Phanatic had to make appearance, which is always a blast! It’s this type of shoot that I get the most satisfaction out of; and this is why JPG is happy to offer reduced rates and donated time to photograph charities and non-profits whenever we can.
Being present for these moments is extremely touching. Thank you to CHOP and Umps Care for inviting us out for some fun! We hope to be a part of more days like this one.
