Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Wedding for Holly & Gerry

There is nothing like a good paradox, and Holly and Gerry’s wedding at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia was the perfect mix of sophistication and childlike fun.

One of the things I like most about Holly and Gerry’s wedding day is that they did a lot of things right. They took their time when they were preparing before the ceremony (Holly at Le Meridien, Gerry at Four Seasons), because they knew there was no reason to rush. Instead, it’s best to live in the moment. They’re both doctors, and their wedding party members were all professionals in their own fields, so I can imagine that they were looking to let loose! The day was incredibly hot, as it was over 100 degrees in the heat index, but they were champs for going outside and taking some sweet photos beforehand. And they picked great locations throughout, with modern furniture, art, and classic Philadelphia hotels!

The wedding ceremony occurred on the grand staircase of the PAFA, creating an intimate and unique setting for the guests. They were surrounded by classical art, including a piece by Charles Wilson Peale that I did a paper on in high school. I know, I’m a dork – but I appreciate all forms of art, and these pieces of art added such a feeling of class and ambiance!

When the reception began in the building next door, the sophistication transformed into a high-energy party! Holly and Gerry flew up a band from Atlanta, known as the Atlanta Showstoppers, and there is not nearly enough I can say to emphasize how amazing they were. Paired with the cappuccino bar, they kept the wedding party alive and kicking all night. And I really loved when Holly’s dad gave a toast to the couple, letting Holly know that he’s learned as much from her as she has from him. There was a lot of love in that room, and Holly and Gerry were all smiles to the very end.

Congratulations to Holly and Gerry for an amazing day, and a successful start to the beginning of your journey as husband and wife. We at JPG know your story will be a “masterpiece”!

Best,
Joe G.
