Standing on the green at Overbrook Golf Club, Alli and Cameron posed for their portraits among rolling green hills and flourishing trees. Despite being mid-July, the weather was balmy and mild, with lots of sunshine and blue skies. It was the kind of day where you just wanted to be outside. I think it’s safe to say that this lovely couple got married on one of the most beautiful days of 2015 in their Overbrook Golf Club wedding.
Alli grew up in Montgomeryville, and her day began not too far away, at Salon L. in North Wales. The salon is large, airy, and colorful, making it a pleasure to photograph in. We had a lot of fun getting to and from the salon as well, with a fully styled Alli at the wheel. Great shots ensued of our bride-chauffeur cruising around in her satin “bride” robe and lavish up-do, which is definitely something you don’t see every wedding! Upon arriving back at her parents’ home, Alli and Cameron shared an emotionally charged and beautiful back-yard first look. A great first look can be one of the biggest highlights of the day, both personally and photographically. All the months of planning, waiting, and dreaming lead up to the moment the bride and groom first meet eyes on the day they’ve so been looking forward to. This moment oozes with excitement. With tears, laughter, and smiles, Alli and Cameron knocked theirs out of the park. Their happiness was contagious!
The joy continued in a pre-ceremony photo shoot in Chestnut Hill. The bridal party stopped traffic at the Chestnut Hill Septa Station for a few group shots in the summer sun before heading to Iron Hill Brewery for a cold beer. After utilizing the colorful storefronts of Chestnut Hill for a few more portraits, it was time for Alli and Cameron to say “I do.”
Our bride and groom officially became husband and wife at St. Gregory Armenian Church of Philadelphia. In the tradition of the Armenian Apostolic church, Alli and Cameron participated in a crowning ceremony. St. Gregory’s website describes this tradition in the following way: “They are crowned as the king and queen of their own little kingdom, the home, which they will rule with wisdom, justice, and integrity.” As a photographer, it was beautiful to capture a tradition that connects families and reaches across generations.
At the reception, giant, humorous cut outs of Alli and Cameron’s faces made their way around the party, where the guests enjoyed good company, food, and dancing. From start to finish, positive vibes and good humor were ubiquitous at this event. I think it’s a great omen for Alli and Cameron’s future together, and the JPG Photography team is grateful to have helped kick off the start of many years of happiness. Congratulations, Alli and Cameron!
