The 2nd Annual Mummers Mardi Gras parade in Manayunk brought Philadelphians from across the region together to line Main Street to support the city’s String Bands. Unlike last year, the parade welcomed beautiful weather, allowing for thousands of revelers to celebrate the Mummer’s Strut. Unlike the controversy surrounding the New Year’s Day parade, the Manayunk event is family-friendly. It encourages kids of all ages to walk right into Main Street, and spectators often join in with part of the performance with their favorite band.
The JPG team is a proud sponsor, being that our office is only a few blocks from Main Street. We’re happy to see Manayunk hosting fun and vibrant events, and bringing the community together. The focus of our video is to let every family know that the Manayunk Mummers Parade is safe and fun for the family.
But knowing JPG, we couldn’t just do a simple video. We need to use our GoPro, our Drone and other time lapses to document the ubiquitous energy. For this video, we also recruited a volunteer to sport the GoPro camera in a shoulder mount during the parade. (Thank you Mike from the Greater Overbrook String Band, for helping us with this.) We’re excited that our footage shows the perspective of the performers and the audience, as well as the aerial view, and that this project is infused with our creativity and vision.
We also want to thank Advent Consulting LLC for organizing this awesome event. We’re happy to support a long-standing Philadelphia tradition. If you would like to donate to the mummers, please visit www.iamamummer.com. All of the contributions go directly to the Philadelphia Mummers String Band Association.
We can’t wait to return.
