Back in ‘08, I shot clients Karen and Rick’s wedding in Maryland. Five years later, Rick’s sister Holly remembered JPG so well that she wanted us to shoot her wedding! It was great catching up with the Bowman family at Holly and Mike’s wedding at Salem United Methodist Church in Hampstead, MD.
Holly got ready at the same family farm her sister-in-law Karen got ready in on her own day. Holly and Mike’s June wedding in rural Maryland brought the first good wedding weather we’ve seen since April. As a lifelong baseball player myself, I was jealous of Mike’s Louisville Slugger groomsmen gifts engraved with their names and wedding date. We shot them on top of a wood pile at the family’s farm, giving us their best GQ poses.
The bar at The Mansion at Valley Country Club in Baltimore was one of the coolest, manliest bars I’ve ever seen with 19th century furniture, vintage posters and a lot of color. When I think back, the food at Karen and Rick’s reception was one of the top five best wedding meals I’ve ever had, and I’m happy to say Holly and Mike’s was just as amazing. Surf and turf with crab cakes and steak were served. If I know anything, it’s that the Bowman’s know how to eat!
As a surprise from Mike, the Baltimore Oriole made an appearance at the reception, shocking everyone. Holly’s grandmother loves watching the Orioles play, so it was a huge highlight for her to see their mascot in person.
Holly and Mike, thank you for remembering JPG for your wedding day! I loved seeing Rick and Karen again, who are doing really well with baby no. 2 on the way! Thanks for making us feel like a part of your family. We wish you the best of luck in the start of your new lives together.
