JPG Photography has always been a staunch advocate for equal rights, and take pride in promoting the HRC. An important part of our mission is to help document LGBT individuals, and join them in their mission to achieve the equal status that they deserve. So when Pennsylvania finally legalized gay marriage, we were thrilled to see our favorite couples take the opportunity to get married in their home state. And Joe and Steve’s wedding day at Christ Church in Philadelphia was one of the most fun weddings I’ve ever witnessed!
From the moment Joe and Steve made their entrance into the Presidential Suite to get ready for their big day, we knew they would be a ton of fun. Their wedding prep was intimate– they both got ready at the same time, together. The same closeness was felt at Christ Church, one of the oldest churches in the country, where we snapped a few photos of the couple looking playful and overjoyed.
Joe and Steve’s constant smiles were perfectly accompanied by a beautiful, blue October sky, with just the right amount of sunlight. We incorporated Philadelphia’s bustling Broad Street atmosphere into their day as well, and made our way towards a high-end furniture store, Jonathan Adler, where the managers were more than friendly and accepting of a mini-shoot.
One of the coolest moments of the day was the big surprise that Steve had in store for Joe. Steve shocked Joe with a ride in a vintage Rolls Royce, for part of the day! Joe was ecstatic as he was whisked away past Independence Mall and nearby the adjacent structures. We had a blast catching the newlyweds riding in style!
Their reception at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel was as filled with vibrant energy, which resinated with Joe and Steve’s personalities. The lively wedding band provided the perfect tunes for the guests to dance to. In fact, if the band didn’t need to sleep, we’re sure they would’ve kept dancing until morning!
Joe and Steve won their right to declare their love for one another, and we couldn’t have been more honored to be a part of their big day. Congratulations, Joe and Steve! We hope you have many years of the happiest companionship!
Best, Joe G.
