Julia and Derek’s William Penn Inn Wedding

From the moment I met Julia and Derek, I knew that their wedding at the William Penn Inn in Gwynedd, PA, would be a treat to all those involved. And how could it not, when you have moments of reliving teenage years on a yellow school bus, a groomsman playing some sweet jams on guitar, and a booty-shaking bridal party!?

I met up with Julia and Derek prior to the wedding day, to get to know them a little better. When I got to talking with Julia, I learned that we grew up in the same area (Upper Moreland represent!), went to St. John the Baptist Church near me, and knew some of the same people! I couldn’t help but love the small-world connections, and I knew from then that we would hit it off pretty well.

On the day of the ceremony, I spent time with the girls as the prepared at home. The girls were helping Julia remember some of the dance moves she would be rocking on the dance floor later. Meanwhile, the goofball guys got ready in a hotel, where one of the groomsmen was sporting a Jason

mask on his guitar case (don’t ask me why, but it made for a pretty funny photo op). The ceremony was outdoors and very brief, which was good because of how hot it was. But all the same, it was executed beautifully and elegantly.

Now, I should probably mention my favorite part of the day. The bridal party had rented a yellow parks and recreation bus from the Upper Moreland Township, to travel to their destinations. Apparently, they’ve done this before for family events because of their cost effectiveness, and I agree – it was a great idea!  The couple piled into the back of the bus and pretended to be the “bad kids getting it on.” It was fun to pretend to be a teenager again…minus the angst.

When the bride and groom entered the reception and enjoyed their first dance (with a groomsman wearing the Jason mask in the back), the whole hall filled with smiles and claps. The couple loved it when one of the groomsmen performed a song on guitar for them, and they loved it more when all of

their family and friends packed the dance floor with funky moves. They really took advantage of their awesome photo booth, and it’s because of this wedding, as well as a few others before this, that we decided to buy our own to offer as a service! (Check out the new JPG Photography photo booth here, and let us know if you’d like to include one in your upcoming wedding or event!)

Thanks again for choosing JPG Photography, Julia and Derek, and may your road to happiness always have a packed bus of support and love!
